Why Masala Chai Is More Than Just Tea

Masala chai is India's most beloved beverage — a ritual, a comfort, a conversation starter. The magic lies in the spice blend: cardamom for sweetness, ginger for warmth, cinnamon for depth, cloves for intensity, and black pepper for a gentle kick. Getting the balance right is an art.

Our Masala Tea Premix is crafted with premium Assam CTC tea and a proprietary blend of 7 whole spices, ground fresh and blended in precise ratios so every cup tastes exactly right — whether you have 10 minutes or 2.

Below are three methods to suit every lifestyle. Pick your favourite — or try all three.

1

Method 1

Classic Stovetop Masala Chai

The traditional way — bold, aromatic, deeply satisfying

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp S3 Global Foods Masala Tea Premix
  • 1 cup full-fat milk
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2–3 fresh tulsi leaves (optional)
  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger, crushed (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Combine water and crushed ginger (if using) in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. 2Add the Masala Tea Premix and stir well. Let it simmer for 1 minute — the spices will bloom and the colour will deepen.
  3. 3Pour in the milk and add sugar. Stir to combine.
  4. 4Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chai turns a rich caramel-brown.
  5. 5Add tulsi leaves in the last 30 seconds if using.
  6. 6Strain through a fine mesh strainer into cups. Serve immediately.

Pro Tip: For a stronger brew, let the premix simmer in water for an extra minute before adding milk. The longer the spices steep, the more complex the flavour.

Method 2

Quick Premix Chai (2 Minutes)

Perfect for busy mornings — full flavour, zero fuss

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp S3 Global Foods Masala Tea Premix
  • 200 ml hot water (90°C)
  • 50 ml warm milk (or milk powder)
  • Sugar to taste

Instructions

  1. 1Boil water and let it cool slightly to around 90°C (just off the boil).
  2. 2Add the Masala Tea Premix directly to your cup.
  3. 3Pour hot water over the premix and stir vigorously for 30 seconds until fully dissolved.
  4. 4Add warm milk and sugar. Stir again.
  5. 5No straining needed — the premix is finely milled for a smooth, lump-free cup.

Pro Tip: Using water that is too hot (100°C) can make the tea slightly bitter. Let it rest for 30 seconds after boiling for the best result.

Method 3

Frothy Masala Chai Latte

Café-style at home — creamy, spiced and Instagram-worthy

Ingredients

  • 3 tsp S3 Global Foods Masala Tea Premix
  • 60 ml strong brewed chai concentrate (Method 1, double strength)
  • 150 ml full-fat milk or oat milk
  • 1 tsp honey or brown sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1Prepare a double-strength chai concentrate using Method 1 — use half the water and double the premix. Strain and set aside.
  2. 2Heat milk in a small saucepan until steaming (do not boil). Transfer to a tall jar or use a milk frother to froth until creamy and doubled in volume.
  3. 3Pour the chai concentrate into a large mug.
  4. 4Gently pour the frothed milk over the concentrate, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
  5. 5Drizzle honey and dust with a pinch of cinnamon.
  6. 6Serve immediately and enjoy your café-quality masala latte.

Pro Tip: For an iced masala latte, let the concentrate cool, pour over ice, then top with cold frothed milk. Add a pinch of cardamom for extra aroma.
